Johnson demands Garrett write to Ryan households affected.
Ryan residents who have installed foil insulation under Peter Garrett’s failed home insulation scheme urged to call the hotline 131 792 and seek immediate safety inspection.
Federal Member for Ryan, Michael Johnson MP, has written to Peter Garrett, demanding that he personally write to all Ryan residents who have installed foil insulation through the failed home insulation scheme and urge them all to seek a safety inspection to ensure their homes are safe.
An audit by Peter Garrett’s own department has revealed as many as 1000 homes that had foil insulation installed through this failed scheme may have deadly electrical currents in their roofs Mr Johnson said.
“The Government has simply not done enough to notify Ryan residents that are now at risk due to botched installation of foil insulation,” Mr Johnson said.
“Many Ryan residents have already contacted me expressing their deep concern.”
"Safety is absolutely paramount and I encourage any homeowners who have been part of Peter Garrett’s failed insulation scheme to seek urgent information by calling the hotline on 131 792.”
“Homeowners should not try to check things for themselves. Tragically, four people have already died, and there is a real risk of more fatalities,” Mr Johnson said.
